Devils Arms
May. 18th, 2018 04:17 pmTrish's Devils Arms: Luce & Ombra (Ita: "Light & Shadow") are a pair of personally customized, semi-automatic pistols once wielded by the Dark Knight Sparda, and they are designed to rapidly fire bullets. They are now in possession of Trish.
The guns are primarily modeled after the Colt M1911 design, and are quite similar to the Ebony & Ivory, but with fewer customizations.
Both weapons use customized slides and extended frames that lend them a very angular appearance.
Both weapons have been modified with short-pull triggers, target sights, beavertail grip safeties, and slam-pads on their magazines. Also, both have an additional decock lever mounted on the slide (similar to the Polish Vis).
As with Ebony & Ivory, the left-handed weapon (Ombra) uses a custom slide. The extractor and ejection port have been reversed, thus causing the spent shells to be expelled away from the shooter when used left-handed.
"Luce & Ombra" is engraved in cursive on the outward sides of both pistols, next to the image of a smiling half-moon/half-sun face.
Both handguns are outfitted with ergonomic wood grips. In the middle of the grip panels are portraits of Victorian women, just as on the Ebony & Ivory; as befits their names, Ombra's is dark-haired, and Luce's is fair-haired. Oddly enough, an engraving addressed to Dante is also carved into both sets of guns.
Dante's Devil's Arms
: A set of twin demon swords previously 'owned' by Sparda.
Both swords possess the same design as a uniquely shaped scimitar with jagged edges with a color scheme befitting for their respective element in which they manipulate. The blades are serrated with the segments appearing to interlock like a Celtic knot. The ends of both are slightly jagged but not pointed as a normal blade would be. The pommels form the talking "heads", and the guards of both are round and plain. While Agni sports a red theme, Rudra sports the blue theme.
Compared to most other demons which are belligerent towards human beings just by their nature, Agni and Rudra desire to be a gracious host to anyone who enters their room, provided they don't want to go through the door they guard. Rudra has some knowledge of human customs and gestures, as Agni doesn't know what a "sigh" is, though Rudra doesn't have the chance to explain. Overall they generally possess an affable demeanor (especially in comparison to other demons), despite failing to uphold Dante's stipulation that they don't talk on the adventure.
Agni and Rudra have the power of fire and wind, respectively. They generally fight together as a team and use powerful, single strike attacks. While separate, they will both imbue their blades with their respective elements to augment their attacks. If one host should die in combat, Agni and Rudra will be dual wielded by one host, with the original owner of the host body taking control and using the other to augment their own abilities.
Agni has a Crawler-like ability that will send flames along the ground in a straight line. While in control of both blades, Agni will use a wind-only Twister-like ability while simultaneously launching a Crawler attack. He will also swing the blades, sending fire around his general area.
Rudra uses a Twister-like ability to create a tornado around himself. While in control of both blades, Rudra will also use the Twister-Crawler attack. He has a long range technique where he throws wind and fire blades at the player.
: Ebony & Ivory are both M1911-style handguns chambered for the .45 ACP round, and boast a plethora of customized features:
Both pistols have been modified with pivot-style triggers as opposed to the 1911's usual straight-pull trigger, this modification resembles the Browning Hi-Power pistol.
Both feature custom sight systems; Ebony uses a set of target sights, while Ivory uses a pair of combat sights
Both features ported muzzle compensators that reduce recoil and counteract muzzle flip. Both barrels are extended through the compensators and are ported to match the cuts in the compensators.
Both use custom slides that have been noticeably thickened and reinforced along the slide travel rails and around the chamber and firing mechanism. The result is a slide that bears a resemblance to SIG-Sauer's M1911 line.
Rails have been bolted to the forward portion of both frames. These rails are used to hold the compensators in place.
Both guns use double-stack magazines with slam-pads.
Both have gold-plated magazine releases, hammers, safety switches and triggers.
Ebony features a hooked, two-handed trigger-guard, while Ivory uses a more traditional rounded trigger-guard.
Both weapons use ergonomic wood grips which are inlaid with portraits of Victorian women; as befits their names, Ebony's is dark-haired, and Ivory's is fair-haired.
Ebony's ejection port is located on the left side of the weapon, as opposed to the right side (as Ebony is meant to be used left-handed, this causes spent brass to be ejected away from Dante.)
Both weapons have an outside extractor, resembling Browning Hi-Power pistols.
The inward-facing side of each weapon's slide (Ebony's right and Ivory's left) is engraved with "Ebony & Ivory" in a cursive script along with the unique design of piano keys, further alluding to its name. The outward facing sides (Ebony's left and Ivory's right) are engraved with a dedication to Dante which is explained in Devil May Cry Volume 1 to be from Nell Goldstein
:
Rebellion once belonged to Dante's father, Sparda, and was given to Dante as a keepsake.
Rebellion is a massive claymore with a heavy double-edged blade, notched on both sides near the tip. In its dormant form, the pommel is a single spike, but after awakening, it splits open into several. The grip is plain, but the guard is skeletal, with a skull-design on each side leading to the rib cage from which the blade emerges; on one side of the blade, the skull is that of a human, while the other uses a horned demon's skull. Initially, the crossguard is folded in against the ribs, but it extends and the skull transform to a screaming skull once the sword is awakened by Dante's blood.
The Rebellion is a remarkably powerful magical sword. It is sharp enough to impale the surface of the Savior's body while it is powered by the Sword of Sparda. It is also one of the most durable objects in the series, capable of withstanding hits from the space-cutting blade Yamato, as well as a direct punch from the Savior.
Rebellion is awakened by Dante's blood, however, Dante's own latent power must be active for the blood to have an effect. In the manga, Dante's latent demonic powers became temporarily active and his blood transformed Rebellion, but when Dante's powers became dormant again, Rebellion became dormant as well.
Known Devil's Arms:
Alastor is a living Devil Arm, the "Thunder Sword" and "Spirit of Lightning". It is also one of the two keys alongside Ifrit that can unlock Dante's inner, unlimited power. It can only be wielded by the "chosen one" who can conquer it, but it is able to grant its possessor lightning speed and aerial capability.
Alastor has a guard with a dragon head with two wings biting onto a golden blade. The hilt has a swirling pattern leading to skulls at the bottom with a spike pointing out.
Beowulf is a set of flash gauntlets and greaves Devil Arm which originates from Beowulf the Lightbeast.
Beowulf is a set of black gauntlets and greaves with a somewhat animalistic look. The gauntlets vaguely resemble a wolfs head, with fangs and mane. The grieves look like clawed legs. They also have glowing veins that have white light flowing through them.
As they are "blessed with the sacred light," all of Beowulf's component emits light with each punch and kick. They are capable of concentrating light into a ball and throwing it or erupting it from the user's body. It can also cover the user in light.
The Blue Rose is Nero's personal long-ranged weapon. It is a unique revolver with an over and under barrel style, this design allows it to fire two magnum rounds with each pull of the trigger.
The Blue Rose seems to be a heavily modified Smith and Wesson Model 500 double-action revolver. Nero had this weapon customized for special purposes with the following:
It has a traditional 6-shot cylinder as opposed to the Model 500's original 5-shot cylinder.
Further modifications the gun has are targeting sights, and porting on each barrel to reduce recoil and muzzle flip.
An obvious extra barrel underneath allowing for a double shot.
The cylinder has also been modified to release on the right to reload rather than the usual left, as Nero shoots with his left hand (as seen on the Guns and Swords video)
The gun also has a molded wooden grip and an intricate blue rose design carved into the left side of the gun (hence the name).
It can stretch to incredible lengths and is infused with the power of ice, making its technique "icy-cool to the core".
Cerberus is a triple nunchuck. In its ethereal form like other Devil Arms, it is a ball of blue light. However, in its material form, it manifests as three rods connected to a ring by chains, effectively making a three-part nunchuck. The ring and chains are black, while the rods are icy blue with three pick-like points at the end of each rod.
In combat, the nunchucks emit vapor with icy chunks. The chains will extend with certain moves and attacks. As shown when Dante caught Lady's motorcycle, the chains can extend indefinitely.
The Devil Bringer is Nero's right arm and the physical manifestation of his demonic power. The arm possesses superhuman strength, which it can also manifest through a larger, spectral arm. It is also capable of absorbing items of power, such as the Yamato or Evil Legacy, and manifesting their power.
The Devil Bringer possesses a skin-exposed appearance. The arm possesses muscle and bone features that are a stark contrast to what regular human's look like, such as the elbow end becomes longer and more curved, the forearm having a segmented, clawed streak style to each side of the appendage and many deep indigo-grey oval-shaped streaks marked on another side with many thin cartilage crossing in between them. It has a blue glowing streak (glowing gold when contact of another close individual such as Kyrie, or the energy of love meets with the arm) and it goes between the forearm's own streaks and underneath the entire palm and claws Nero has. The arm also has a reptilian look mixed with it. In its spectral projection, the Devil Bringer will have a ghostly version of it that has a transparent appearance with a slight alteration, which is elastic and may occasionally scale up in size.
In Devil Trigger, Nero's right, ghostly version of the arm merges with the entire avatar and will acquire a left arm that has been deformed with three fingers instead of the five-fingered Devil Bringer.
Additionally, the Devil Bringer went through a lot of design changes but the developers chose to stick with the arm that Nero currently possessed already but will change via his Perfect Devil Trigger (which to newcomers, won't be accessible anyways).
Gilgamesh is a set of gauntlets, greaves, mask, and back armor.
Gilgamesh is an armor-like weapon made of a devilish metal which absorbs organic material and transforms it to steel, and its techniques can be powered up by engaging the thrusters on the gauntlets and greaves. The gauntlets have small drills on each arm capable of extending during some attacks, while the greaves have small saws allowing Dante to cut through enemies with kicks. Whenever Dante is charging an attack, the mask covers his face, but its real function is never specified (though it seems to be implied that it prevents the user from breathing the gas which comes out of the thrusters during the charging process). Similar to the mask, the back armor, which resembles a pair of small metallic wings, doesn't seem to serve a real purpose during gameplay.
Its hellfire is hotter than a volcano, and though it can only be wielded by one who can conquer it, it is able to grant its wielder increased power.
Ifrit is a pair of black and orange gauntlets with a spiked, dragon head as the wrist and forearm guard. Metal plated gloves come out of the mouth.
Like most weapons, Lucifer possesses its first form which is a ball of fiery light representing its element. However, in its material form, it takes the form of a metallic backpack with three deep red symbols on its forehead, an insectoid jawline holding a rose in between it until its host can carry it instead. It has two segmented wing-looking sheathes with three claws which can move around on their own or take an abnormal folded appearance. Its own sheathes produce red Rapier swords with a look that mirrors the respected sheathes which also have a pick-like hilt. The weapon takes on a perpetual dark aura with a hint of a dim red glow once it's examined closely.
These sheathes are able to spawn a countless number of swords that are supercharged with demonic power, allowing them to hover in mid-air or be launched with explosive impact. These swords can be rearranged, thrown, or wielded, and will explode either after a short duration, at a command from Dante such as a clap or throwing the rose held in his mouth, or once fifteen more blades have been spawned
Nevan is a curious, guitar-like Devil Arm which originates from Nevan the Lightning Witch.
Nevan consists of two forms in one. It is a purple, one neck guitar with many electric strings and some skeletal-looking features. It hides or cloaks a three-pronged scythe underneath, which is basically folded into it (The scythe itself can fold backward via "Distortion"). Also, it can use a pack of bats and electricity that will support the guitar, either firing off as a similar function to mid-ranged bullets or in defensive purposes surround as a protective wall for the user.
Pandora has an ethereal form, which resembles a blue light. However, in its materialized form, it resembles a grey briefcase with many cracks detailed onto it, for example, the first set of cracks are basically a yellow circuitry, and the second is a vein-looking pattern of cracks. In the center of these cracks has a scaly membrane that curves into a complete circle encompassing a three-eyed skull with fangs. Also an interesting feature, Pandora can convert into many sizes and forms with a plethora of new features. Grief is a tri-blade shuriken with three spade tips. In Revenge form, Pandora has vents and pipes. Argument is a vehicle-like form that hovers with thrusters on the back and rocket barrels all around the seated pilot. In Epidemic, Pandora has frill-like panels, and in Jealousy form, has bandolier magazines.
It is able to transform into 666 different and devastating forms.PF398: Revenge can knock out The Savior with one direct hit, even with a low Disaster Gauge; PF666: Omen can instantly break enemy defenses such as shields, a Frost's ice cocoon, a Blitz's initial electric charge, and even Mephisto & Faust cloaks when fired at close range; and techniques powered by a full Disaster Gauge will kill any lesser demons in front of Dante. To compensate for this extreme power, Pandora's forms take a few seconds to activate.
PF124: Hatred will only need half the input of the left/right code, and PF398: Revenge will only need 1 spin. Furthermore, all of Pandora's forms, excluding PF666: Omen, can be charged while in Devil Trigger.
PF013: Epidemic is an over-and-under, double barrel bow-rocket launcher, which fires off two missiles simultaneously.
PF124: Hatred is a triple barrel, over-the-shoulder rocket launcher. It has slow recoil but deals heavy damage. For Trish, the rockets shoot out in a wide arc and launch the enemy.
PF398: Revenge is a large, steampunk-designed laser cannon with a huge body, a laser sight on one side of the weapon used for targetting. Its energy beam varies by its user. Dante fires one blast that travels indefinitely and explodes on contact. Trish will fire a continuous beam at the cost of three DT runes and can make minor adjustments to the aim while firing.
PF422: Grief turns the briefcase into a large, three-tipped shuriken that slowly diminishes a target's health with a gyroscopic spin. While Dante is using Grief, he will be stuck in the throwing position until it returns.
PF594: Argument is a one-seat vehicle with rocket barrels along the horizontal ring that wraps around the seat. Its ability to hover makes it equivalent to Air Raid in previous games.
It has an ornately etched base, and appears to be modeled after the German Großes Messer (lit. "Great Knife"), but its most unique feature is that it has been specially customized with a motorcycle-like gear shift which, when pulled, sprays a flammable propellant across the blade and opponent, greatly increasing the power of its blows. This system, known as "Exceed", can be revved up to three times, and can be released either in one incredibly powerful strike, or three separate stinging blows. This system is also strong enough for Nero to be able to use it as a jet. This and several other modifications make the Red Queen nearly impossible for anyone but Nero to wield.
The Sparda and its unawakened form, the Force Edge, is the beloved demon-forged sword wielded by The Dark Knight Sparda himself, and magically imbued with his power.
The Sword of Sparda has two forms: Force Edge and Sparda.
Force Edge, the unawakened form, resembles a basic sword. The guard takes a "W" shape, vaguely resembling Sparda's horns. It has a spiral handle that leads to four skulls on the pommel with a spike at the top.
In its awakened state, Sparda keeps the handle and cross-guard, but the spike on the skulls is split in half, with the frontward, more elaborate half forming a small blade that curves around the bottom of Sparda's blade (in Devil May Cry, the front half is a simple hook). Force Edge's blade is replaced with a spine-like structure attached to two curved blades via an organic looking substance. Together the blades form one long blade when in sword mode. The top portion has a large glowing red gem-like object in the center. The other side has two significantly smaller gems, glowing orange, and pink. Sparda's blades can reorient themselves to give Sparda various shapes to suit its needs. Dante and Trish shift the halves to create a scythe for Round Trip and point both blades forward for a spear for Stinger.
The Yamato is Vergil's trademark dark-forged blade, a legendary sword that was once wielded by his father, Sparda, and was left to Vergil as a keepsake.
Yamato is a katana with an ornate bronze guard; the exact details of how it looks change throughout the series. In the first Devil May Cry the Tsuka (柄? lit. "handle") has the traditional gold wrapping, with black ornaments, and the Tsuba (鍔? lit. "guard") is octagonal. In later installments, the guard is an oval, and the tsuka-ito seems to be braided from the white and black material. The blade features several intricate ornaments, most notable is a relief of a dragon at the endpoint of the hilt. The inside and back of Nero's Devil Bringer mimic the design of the blade's hilt.
The scabbard is black, made of traditional lacquered wood, and features several metallic ornaments on its far end. In Devil May Cry 3 it also features a yellow sageo, the cord used to tie the katana to the waist.
In Devil Trigger, Vergil and Nero have different, but similar designs for the scabbard. For Vergil, it alters to appear similar to the sheath of a Kris, an Indonesian traditional dagger and is colored dark blue. It attaches to an additional appendage on his left arm, and it can adjust the position to allow Vergil to draw or sheathe his sword quicker and thus leaves Vergil's left hand free to wield the blade or other weapons. For Nero, the sheath appears to be more segmented, but it is otherwise identical.
Despite having a scabbard, Yamato is only occasionally worn on the waist; Vergil and Dante carry it with their hands during battle (though Vergil has been shown to wear it on his waist when not in use), Nero absorbs the Yamato within his Devil Bringer, and Sparda used to strap it to his back.
Although Yamato resembles a katana, it is even sharper than the Japanese blade, and is imbued with tremendous magic. The sword is said to be able to cut through anything, even the very fabric of space itself. The only things capable of stopping Yamato's strikes are objects powered by demonic energy comparable to the user's, such as the Rebellion or individuals powered by the Sword of Sparda. As such, when the user is weakened, the sword's ability to cut through anything also fades.

An obvious extra barrel underneath allowing for a double shot.
The cylinder has also been modified to release on the right to reload rather than the usual left, as Nero shoots with his left hand (as seen on the Guns and Swords video)
