Umbrella Known Lab Locations
Mar. 12th, 2018 10:48 amThis facility was set up in the late 1960s by Umbrella in secrecy. Built within the underground ruins of the Ndipaya Kingdom, only high-ranking Umbrella researchers and the remaining Ndipaya knew of its existence.
The Arklay Laboratory was a laboratory complex located in the Arklay Mountains and managed by Umbrella USA. Hidden beneath the seclusive Spencer Mansion, the Arklay Laboratory was one of the earth's key Umbrella facilities and was involved with viral and bio-weapons research and development. The facility was destroyed following a sabotage which left the entire research staff and associated employees dead or otherwise infected with the t-Virus.
The Antarctic Base was an expansive complex built in Antarctica, just south of the 82nd parallel. Constructed for Umbrella Pharmaceuticals in the 1960s out of an abandoned mine, the facility served the dual-purpose of being a transport terminal and warehouse complex of biohazardous cargo, and as a laboratory for the Ashford family's t-Virus project.
The Caucasus Laboratory was a laboratory owned and operated by the Umbrella Corporation. Formerly a Soviet-era chemical plant, it continued to serve this guise to cover up its biological research.
Umbrella U.S.A. operated a major branch in the city, and it was through here that other facilities in the US, such as those in nearby Raccoon City, were directed. John Clemens was transferred to the Arklay Laboratory from Chicago to assist in the t-Virus Plan.
Chicago-based employees were also scheduled to take part in training seminars under Dr. William Birkin. These were to take place on the fourth Friday every other month in the sewer facility.
The Raccoon City Underground Laboratory was a large subterranean laboratory located in the outskirts of Raccoon City that was operated by the Umbrella Corporation and administrated by Dr. William Birkin.
This sprawling facility, built primarily for the research and development of the G-virus, could be accessed via an underground cable car system that linked the facility to the sewers beneath the Raccoon City Police Department and the Umbrella Research Center, a private train station on the lowest level, as well as a personal elevator that allowed access to the Research Center's train station above that.
The Military Training Center on Rockfort Island was constructed to train Umbrella paramilitary units Umbrella Security Service in a location of secrecy, against real B.O.W.s. The facility was administered along with the rest of the island by Alfred Ashford.
The training camp was known to have trained the infamous 'HUNK', the only survivor of the U.S.S. Alpha Team sent to retrieve the G-virus from Raccoon City. HUNK would return to the facility tasked with guarding a B.O.W. capsule sent from Antarctica. HUNK refers to his time at the facility as the "good old days", although he may well have been referring sarcastically to Alfred's notoriously haphazard management.
The facility was built around an abandoned church used by the Spanish settlers on the island, of whom Rodrigo Juan Raval is a descendent. This church would be used for storage as well as to house an elevator to the underground catacombs where the settlers' tombs were kept.
The facility features among other things, a full sized working tank displayed in an outside courtyard (part of Alfred's private collection) a repair garage, underground B.O.W. and virus storage facilities, direct access to the subterranean airport, an industrial cargo elevator and turntable, a large bathhouse with sauna, administration offices and a sophisticated control room.
Umbrella Europe was a loose collection of national holding companies for Umbrella, covering the European continent. At least six laboratories were under its jurisdiction. The continent was also the site for the global headquarters of the parent company, Umbrella Pharmaceuticals. Umbrella Europe is known to have been in competition with Umbrella USA in bio-weapons development.
The Umbrella Executive Training Center was a student research facility with a separate laboratory complex hidden below an adjacent church. The main facility was designed to train researchers as prospective executive officers to become the next generation of the company's management.
The Umbrella Japan Laboratory was, at least to the public, a pharmaceutical development laboratory maintained by the Umbrella Corporation subsidiary "Umbrella Pharmaceuticals".
Located in the Atlantic Ocean, the facility was used as a dumping ground for Umbrella's failed experiments. It was also the facility where the Umbrella scientist, Morpheus D. Duvall worked as an executive researcher. Some of the failed experiments included Glimmers and the Nautilus. For unknown reasons, the facility was eventually shut-down, although the failed test subjects detained at the facility were still active, eventually breaking free and overrunning it.
