Chimera was a bio-weapon product developed by the Umbrella Corporation, manufactured in the Arklay Laboratory. It was a human-fly hybrid, named after a monster of Greek mythology, itself a combination of different animals.
Umbrella began using their newly-developed t-Virus strains on animals soon after their founding. However, they were met with problems with their practicality, such as a lack of intelligence or insufficient strength increases which eliminated the Web Spinner as a reliable weapon. In its place, the Chimera project was started, which intended to graft insect DNA into human zygotes. Homeless women were abducted by Umbrella agents and forcibly impregnated with the modified zygotes. Out of various insect-human hybrids that were envisioned as bioweapons, it was a fly-human hybrid that was chosen for continued study. It was subsequently cloned to produce identical bioweapons.
Due to their many flaws, further research into more advanced forms was never conducted, and the Chimera's basic form was never refined to the lengths of the Hunter or the Tyrant.
The Licker is a mutation experienced by zombies as part of the V-ACT process, depending on the variant of the t-Virus they were infected with. The mutations transform them into deadlier, more agile hunters.
'Abyss' Strain -
Researchers gave them the name Ooze as their bodies secreted a slimy substance which prevented them from drying up. Due to their innate ability to constantly produce this "Ooze", it would give them the flexibility to slip through various cracks or gaps to chase prey.
Appearance-wise these creatures retain a relatively human form though resemble bloated corpses. The T-Abyss virus has mutated mainly the fore-limbs and head of the victim. The head of the creature splits halfway where the victim's nose would be to reveal its leech-like tongue retracted inside the esophagus, which is lined with small sharp teeth used for cutting into victims and draining them of their fluids.
Their movement pattern is awkward and unpredictable due to their feet mutating into crooked stumps. The reason for this is unknown but theorized it could be to aid in maneuvering through vents and small spaces. This gives them an odd shuffling gait as they "walk" forwards. Despite this oddity, they make use of the falling forward momentum to pick up speed when assaulting prey.
Typically only male victims of the t-Abyss virus become Oozes; female victims instead tend to become Sea Creepers. There are some variations in the Ooze.
Some look like normal humans with the above descriptions, some generation a bizarre arm in the shape of a crossbow which shoots projectiles, some possess long claw-like arms, and others look like a grotesque chunk of meat with no arms or hands. The last ones tend to explode.
The Scarmiglione were Bio-Organic Weapons. They are humanoid t-Abyss creatures that incorporated shark DNA.
Sea Creepers are the typical mutation experienced by human women when infected with the t-Abyss Virus. Sea Creepers are aquatic in nature. They look like a cross between human women and an underwater arachnid.
Hunters-
The Farfarello (lit. Slanderer, elf, goblin, or evil spirit; named after one of the 13 devils named the Malebranche from the Divine Comedy) is an independently-improved species of the Hunter B.O.W. They were developed by a splinter group of Umbrella.
The Glimmer was a mutated species descended from one of Umbrella's research experiments. While its progenitor is unknown, an employee at the Umbrella Waste Disposal Facility noted that they were suspected to be in relation to the Hunters.
The Hunter α (development code: "MA-121") was one of the first fully-functional and marketable B.O.W.s produced by Umbrella. It was created by injecting reptilian DNA into a human embryo and administering the t-Virus as a bonding agent. The MA-121α went through intensive research and development at the underground lab in Raccoon City.
The Hunter was found to have developed a hard keratinized skin which was as strong as Kevlar body armor and was of intelligence matching that of Orangutans, allowing it to execute tens of different commands taught by trainers. Due to the unpredictable nature of genetic manipulation with the t-Virus, all subsequent Hunters were clones of the original.
The Hunter β was developed by Umbrella Europe to improve upon Birkin's Hunter α work. Due to Umbrella's ability to clone B.O.W.s at a low cost, they were free to continue making further genetic modifications to the Hunter α, focusing on improving the Hunter's performance abilities. While its attack power was reduced in the process, its nervous system was improved, decreasing reaction time when being shot at.
The Hunter γ (development code: "MA-124") model of Hunter was developed by Umbrella Europe as part of a reinvestigation into amphibian-based B.O.W.s, which failed ten years earlier with Dr. Marcus' Lurker. It was nicknamed the "Frogger" by its development team.
The Hunter γ was developed based on information retrieved from the American branch's Hunter α model. Contrary to the American design method, the Hunter γ involved human DNA being bonded with a fertilized amphibian egg with the t-Virus.
The Hunter δ ("Delta") was a Bio Organic Weapon created by Umbrella as part of their black market weapons program. It was, as its name suggests, based on the hunter line of B.O.W.s.
Hunter R (development code: MA-125) is similar to its parent α model in terms of appearances; some of its distinguishing characteristics include smaller claws and spikes on its back.
Intended as the next step in Hunter development, the "R" replaced the "α" as the development model. The reason for this was to increase "usability", as the practical applications for the "α" was considered to be somewhat limited. Several of these Hunters were found dead in the machine storage room on the third floor of Raccoon University. Two hung from hooks on the ceiling while another was laid out on a table.
Ticks were designed as bipedal B.O.W.s in a similar style to the Hunter α line. Aside from its brown skin and antennas, the primary difference between Ticks and the Hunter is the possession of sickle-like arms, which were designed for cutting people to pieces in the dark.
Plagas-
Duvalia is a stage in the life of the Type 3 Plaga, a genetically modified species of Plaga engineered by Tricell. Its name is derived from the Duvalia, a species of carrion flower found in tropical Africa. Its most recognizable feature is a large bulb found inside five shorter appendages, which the Plaga mimics with its armored shell and vulnerable core.
Type 3 Plagas were engineered to extend the longevity of the infected host.
Specific Experiments -
Originally a condemned criminal only known as "α" (Alpha), what would become Pluto was subject to numerous experiments.
On the first day of the experiment, a metal rod was hammered into his frontal lobe to alleviate pain. On the fourth day, his eyes were removed to test how his other senses would react.
Later in the experiment, he would gain mass, becoming overweight around the time he was given steroids to improve his muscles. Despite his immense size, he is also incredibly fast and his acute hearing makes him very accurate.
The experiment was suspended on day 41 after "α" managed to escape, killing five guards in the process.
Tyrants -
Proto Tyrant (T-001 Model) was an experimental subject which served as the prototype for the later Tyrants. Despite its primitive design in comparison to later B.O.W.s, it nonetheless demonstrated the "bare ferocity" that earned its series the name "Tyrant".
Aimed at developing the "ultimate life form", the T-001 was developed alongside the "finished product", T-002. During the experiment, the t-Virus' negative effects were found to be too potent, resulting in such deformities as the skin essentially "exfoliating". This led to the decision to discontinue the Tyrant's development.
In the late 1980s, Umbrella USA's bioweapons project had reached an impasse. While their β ("Beta)" strain could create mutants like the Hunter and Cerberus which could be trained in the manner of dogs, the Arklay Laboratory team under Dr. William Birkin advanced their research towards B.O.W.s of human intelligence. The new ε ("Epsilon") strain was developed to limit the amount of intelligence lost during t-Virus mutations in humans. With this new strain, the Tyrant Project was born, named after the virus.
Though the research team had hopes their Tyrants would far outclass any bio-weapon, the ε strain would only mutate humans if they possessed a certain gene only present in one in ten million people. Umbrella was lucky enough to find several candidates for the Tyrant Project under the development code "T-002". These men, prisoners, were each infected with the virus and subjected to surgeries to help their bodies cope. Only one survived the process. Research on T-002 continued for the next several years, even after the Collapse of the Soviet Union provided Umbrella with Col. Sergei Vladimir, who's clones were participants in the T-103 project.

The T-103 model proved to Umbrella that the Tyrant class of B.O.W. was commercially viable, in that they could be mass-produced, they were compliant with programming, and they were lethally effective at their tasks. As a result, not only were multiple batches of T-103 Tyrants produced, data from the T-103 was eventually used to enhance future forms of Tyrant. At least four models of Tyrant exist that can be directly connected to the T-103:
T-00: one of the first models based on T-103. T-00 was the batch-number of 6 Tyrants dropped in Raccoon City, with T-00 being dropped in the Raccoon City Police Department, the other batch-numbers were dropped in other areas such as the Incineration Disposal Plant P-12A Scrapyard passageway and Generator Room as seen in the third game.
Nemesis-T Type: This "Pursuer" Tyrant was created by parasitizing a T-103 Tyrant with the Nemesis Parasite.
T-0400TP: This was a prototype of a newer, more advanced and even deadlier version of the T-103 model, though it was lost during the Raccoon City incident.
T-103 Mass Production Model: This model was the official mass-produced model following the prototypes that fought in Raccoon City.
Ivan: This model of Tyrant was a T-103 variant specially modified to capitalize upon the human-like appearance of its previous model, enabling them to better blend into humanity whilst still being lethally effective bodyguards. Only 10 Ivan models are known to have ever been created, and at least two of these were assigned to Sergei Vladimir as his bodyguards; this first batch of Ivans was, in fact, created from clones of Sergei Vladimir.
Unidentified Tyrant series: This model is the latest known Tyrant model based on T-103, developed in Eastern Slav Republic lab of president Svetlana Belikova. This tyrant model is a lot larger than the mass production model, does not have a visible heart in their super form and has only one slightly mutated claw, therefore making it harder to defeat.
Thanatos was a unique Tyrant specimen created by rogue Umbrella Corporation scientist Greg Mueller. During the Raccoon City Destruction Incident, Greg released Thanatos in defiance of Umbrella's mass-production of Tyrants. As with other B.O.W.s, Thanatos was named after an entity in Graeco-Roman mythology - in this case, the Greek god of death.
Greg created Thanatos using research and combat data of the T-103 model. However, he wanted a Tyrant optimized for killing and preferred the physical design of the prototype T-002 combat model.
The Hypnos-T Type was an experimental model of Tyrant seen at Sheena Island's "Tyrant Plant". It is named after the Greek God of Sleep, and the accompanying word "Υπνος".
The Hypnos project was the brainchild of Commander Vincent Goldman, a eugenicist, and fierce Umbrella supremacist. The main variation between this Tyrant and other models was the inclusion in its genetic make-up of the Hypnos gene, a modified genetic strand that, when implanted into an organism, would kill the weaker cells through natural selection, leaving only the strongest to keep the organism ongoing and encouraging the reproduction of the better cells. The process was repeated hundreds of thousands of times day and night for three weeks.
A neurotransmitter is known as "β Hetero Nonserotonin" was also necessary for its creation. Unbeknownst to Umbrella, the creature was still continuing to mutate. These mutations granted it greater muscle mass, much larger claws on its left hand, an enlarged jaw, and sharp teeth.
The Bandersnatch was developed as an offshoot of the Tyrant project, intended for reasons of practicality. The reason for this was simple - those with the necessary genes to be turned into Tyrants were small in number, and the Tyrants themselves were expensive to develop. In short, the Bandersnatch was a 'cost-effective' alternative proposal. Due to the flawed/cost-effective processes used in their creation, parts of their anatomy tended to atrophy away within moments of their creation; the atrophied parts were often their left arms.
The Tyrant-Armored Lethal Organic System, or T-A.L.O.S., was biologically engineered by the Umbrella Corporation to be the ultimate Bio Organic Weapon. It is a computer-controlled powered assault armour grafted onto the body of a Tyrant, T-011.
The Umbrella research team stationed at the Arklay Laboratory originally conceived the T-A.L.O.S. as the North American Branch's answer to the Nemesis-T Type, an Umbrella Europe project.

This method allowed bio-weapons to be remotely controlled by a supercomputer like the Red Queen.
Not satisfied with just superior control, the Arklay team wanted a bio-weapon that could match the firepower of heavy military hardware. Normal Tyrants boasted a combat prowess and survivability beyond the best-trained combat troops, but they were only capable of successfully deterring one military division. When facing armoured fighting vehicles or military-grade helicopters, a Tyrant's kill ratio begins to falter. The Arklay team's solution was to arm a Tyrant with specialized combat firepower and armour. Most Tyrants were unsuited for weaponry, as it would only hinder their two strong points – motor performances and response reflexes. However, the use of enhanced armour modules, internal reinforcement implants, long-distance homing weaponry, etc. preserved the natural abilities of the Tyrant while granting incredible firepower.
T-A.L.O.S. uses a Tyrant as a base while adding remote computer control capabilities via a chip implanted in the brain. Its cardiovascular system is artificially improved to give it mobility unthinkable in a natural organism. Its body is armoured in a special metallic alloy that not only helps it defend itself from missiles and other projectile fire, but also restrains runaway t-Virus mutation. It has also been equipped with a homing MRL weapon system to allow it to respond to distant targets. The T-A.L.O.S. can use its massive left arm to either Sideswipe or crush opponents, and its rocket launcher has a rate of fire similar to a sub-machine gun. After being defeated in this form, it mutates; most of its armour and long-range weapons detach, its legs disappear, and it anchors itself to the overhanging Red Queen, and it begins to utilize more physical attacks, such as flinging pieces of the ceiling with robotic claws mounted on tentacles. Its arms match; both are huge and have massive claws on its hands. The arms are able to support T-A.L.O.S.'s large mass, as it charges and swipes with each one. Although it is a humanoid B.O.W., it has enough armour and firepower to stand against a tank.
Other - A "Blob" is a monster originating from human prisoners trapped below the Spencer Estate. After being infected with an unidentified virus and experimented on by Oswell E. Spencer's butler Patrick, they became the "Guards" of the underground.
Under Taker (nicknamed "Umbrella Trashsweeper" or simply "UT") is the name of a disposable humanoid Bio Organic Weapon. They are dispatched via helicopter to "clean up" any evidence of wrongdoings by Umbrella.
The Under Takers were created by Umbrella as a rapid-reaction force to counter t-Virus outbreaks due to the low-survival rate as expected with such missions and clean evidence relating Umbrella to the incidents. They were also given the added task of destroying evidence that could link Umbrella to the event, including the execution of witnesses and the destruction of the target area. To ensure the complete removal of evidence, Under Takers dissolve after the conclusion of their mission or when killed in battle.
Under Takers were equipped with night vision goggles, black body armor similar to the ones used by the USS, and were armed with Heckler & Koch MP5s, some of which mounted laser sights so that they could snipe at enemies while concealed.

As with other B.O.W.s, Thanatos was named after an entity in Graeco-Roman mythology - in this case, the Greek god of death.
Greg created Thanatos using research and combat data of the T-103 model. However, he wanted a Tyrant optimized for killing and preferred the physical design of the prototype T-002 combat model.
The Hypnos-T Type was an experimental model of Tyrant seen at Sheena Island's "Tyrant Plant". It is named after the Greek God of Sleep, and the accompanying word "Υπνος".
The Hypnos project was the brainchild of Commander Vincent Goldman, a eugenicist, and fierce Umbrella supremacist. The main variation between this Tyrant and other models was the inclusion in its genetic make-up of the Hypnos gene, a modified genetic strand that, when implanted into an organism, would kill the weaker cells through natural selection, leaving only the strongest to keep the organism ongoing and encouraging the reproduction of the better cells. The process was repeated hundreds of thousands of times day and night for three weeks.
A neurotransmitter is known as "β Hetero Nonserotonin" was also necessary for its creation. Unbeknownst to Umbrella, the creature was still continuing to mutate. These mutations granted it greater muscle mass, much larger claws on its left hand, an enlarged jaw, and sharp teeth.
The Bandersnatch was developed as an offshoot of the Tyrant project, intended for reasons of practicality. The reason for this was simple - those with the necessary genes to be turned into Tyrants were small in number, and the Tyrants themselves were expensive to develop. In short, the Bandersnatch was a 'cost-effective' alternative proposal. Due to the flawed/cost-effective processes used in their creation, parts of their anatomy tended to atrophy away within moments of their creation; the atrophied parts were often their left arms.
The Tyrant-Armored Lethal Organic System, or T-A.L.O.S., was biologically engineered by the Umbrella Corporation to be the ultimate Bio Organic Weapon. It is a computer-controlled powered assault armour grafted onto the body of a Tyrant, T-011.
The Umbrella research team stationed at the Arklay Laboratory originally conceived the T-A.L.O.S. as the North American Branch's answer to the Nemesis-T Type, an Umbrella Europe project.
Following the successful creation of the Tyrant-002, the Umbrella research team stationed at the Umbrella Lab in the Arklay Mountains found themselves well on their way towards a marketable humanoid Bio Organic Weapon. With the Tyrant programme progressing smoothly, a proposal was made to begin developing a new, highly advanced bio-weapon that would overcome the one major flaw in existing Tyrants: lack of control. Most Tyrants are prone to sudden cellular mutations that can result in the halting of functionality, impairment of judgment, and the various other detrimental conditions.
In order to enable safe transport and deployment, a more stable solution was essential. Umbrella's 6th Research Lab in Europe had already discovered one method of control by using an organic parasite, and their "Nemesis Project" would reach completion in time for deployment in Raccoon City. The Arklay team, however, conceived of an even better solution by using chip connections to brain cells. This method allowed bio-weapons to be remotely controlled by a supercomputer like the Red Queen.
Not satisfied with just superior control, the Arklay team wanted a bio-weapon that could match the firepower of heavy military hardware. Normal Tyrants boasted a combat prowess and survivability beyond the best-trained combat troops, but they were only capable of successfully deterring one military division. When facing armoured fighting vehicles or military-grade helicopters, a Tyrant's kill ratio begins to falter. The Arklay team's solution was to arm a Tyrant with specialized combat firepower and armour. Most Tyrants were unsuited for weaponry, as it would only hinder their two strong points – motor performances and response reflexes. However, the use of enhanced armour modules, internal reinforcement implants, long-distance homing weaponry, etc. preserved the natural abilities of the Tyrant while granting incredible firepower.
T-A.L.O.S. uses a Tyrant as a base while adding remote computer control capabilities via a chip implanted in the brain. Its cardiovascular system is artificially improved to give it mobility unthinkable in a natural organism. Its body is armoured in a special metallic alloy that not only helps it defend itself from missiles and other projectile fire, but also restrains runaway t-Virus mutation. It has also been equipped with a homing MRL weapon system to allow it to respond to distant targets. The T-A.L.O.S. can use its massive left arm to either Sideswipe or crush opponents, and its rocket launcher has a rate of fire similar to a sub-machine gun. After being defeated in this form, it mutates; most of its armour and long-range weapons detach, its legs disappear, and it anchors itself to the overhanging Red Queen, and it begins to utilize more physical attacks, such as flinging pieces of the ceiling with robotic claws mounted on tentacles. Its arms match; both are huge and have massive claws on its hands. The arms are able to support T-A.L.O.S.'s large mass, as it charges and swipes with each one. Although it is a humanoid B.O.W., it has enough armour and firepower to stand against a tank.
Other - A "Blob" is a monster originating from human prisoners trapped below the Spencer Estate. After being infected with an unidentified virus and experimented on by Oswell E. Spencer's butler Patrick, they became the "Guards" of the underground.
Under Taker (nicknamed "Umbrella Trashsweeper" or simply "UT") is the name of a disposable humanoid Bio Organic Weapon. They are dispatched via helicopter to "clean up" any evidence of wrongdoings by Umbrella.
The Under Takers were created by Umbrella as a rapid-reaction force to counter t-Virus outbreaks due to the low-survival rate as expected with such missions and clean evidence relating Umbrella to the incidents. They were also given the added task of destroying evidence that could link Umbrella to the event, including the execution of witnesses and the destruction of the target area. To ensure the complete removal of evidence, Under Takers dissolve after the conclusion of their mission or when killed in battle.
Under Takers were equipped with night vision goggles, black body armor similar to the ones used by the USS, and were armed with Heckler & Koch MP5s, some of which mounted laser sights so that they could snipe at enemies while concealed.
