Carlos was an active member of Communist guerrilla operations in South America. After government forces wiped out his organization, he was scouted by Umbrella Corporation to join their U.B.C.S. special ops unit. His expertise in heavy weaponry, explosives, and vehicle maintenance made him a valuable asset.
He is warm-hearted and is known to joke around. Perhaps as a result of being raised amidst violence, he is brave and always willing to throw himself in the middle of danger.
Claire Redfield - Medic, Communications Expert
Claire was a student at a university and took an interest in motorcycles. Claire has been trained in military combat techniques and has learned how to handle herself in hand-to-hand combat, as well as being able to wield a multitude of weapons including combat knives and firearms.
Claire is very strong-willed and her bond with her husband Chris Redfield is very strong. When she was younger, Claire showed an interest in biking, she is seen driving her Harley Davidson into Raccoon City though she left the bike after the zombie encounter. Claire also wore her bike vest with a picture of an angel (goddess) with bombs and the words "Made in Heaven" on the back. Claire is quick to draw opinions on people, whether it be when she feels someone is hiding secrets, or even when someone is wholly untrustworthy.
Subsequently, Claire easily establishes strong connections with people, despite sometimes seeming aloof and sarcastic, and responds more positively to the young girls she meets and becomes protective of them, showing strong motherly instincts.
Chris Redfield - Sharpshooter, Co-Pilot
At around seventeen years of age, Chris joined the United States Air Force, where he received training in both planes and helicopters. During this career, he served in a unit alongside Barry Burton, who he became good friends with. Chris' strong conviction put him at odds with his senior officers, and he quit the first chance he got. During this period Chris also trained to use a variety of weapons including knives and was known for his marksmanship and hand-to-hand combat.
Following his Air Force retirement, Chris was scouted in 1996 by the Special Tactics and Rescue Service, a special law enforcement team in Raccoon City. He accepted the invitation and was given the position of point man for Alpha Team.
Chris is fiercely protective of his friends and family, specifically with his wife Claire and his partner Jill Valentine, both of whom he would give his life to protect. He also tended to establish bonds with the people he worked with or their respect (Rebecca and Wesker, for example), often leading to mutual respect and admiration. Chris cares greatly for the life of innocents, something that caused him to argue with his superiors in the military.
Though he was renowned for his marksmanship and piloting skills, the same could not be said for his organization: his desk in Raccoon City's police department was usually in a state of cluttered disarray.
Jill Valentine - Sharpshooter, B&E Specialist
In the early 1990s Jill served in the US Army and got the attention of recruiters for Delta Force. In spite of her sex, Jill was allowed to take part in the six-month Operator Training Course, where she excelled in bomb disposal, sharp shooting, and lockpicking and known for her delicate through precise work.
Sometime between 1996 and 1998, Jill was recruited by Albert Wesker for the Special Tactics and Rescue Service, an elite law enforcement unit in Raccoon City relying on military veterans and weapons-trained scientists to solve serious crimes. By July 1998, Jill was in Captain Wesker's Alpha Team; her function in the team is cited as a B&E specialist.
Being in the Delta Force Program, Jill has learned to use and become proficient with a variety of firearms. Her aim is extremely accurate, evidenced by her landing a headshot on a Majini from 200+ yards away in a moving helicopter. It is said that while she suffers from increased recoil from high-caliber weapons due to not having as much strength as her partner, due to her Delta Force training, her accuracy is nevertheless "unrivaled".
In terms of physical abilities, Jill shows immense upper and lower body strength. In fact it can be said Jill is the next to Ada Wong in most acrobatic and flexible Resident Evil character. She was able to catch herself falling into a chasm with one hand and perform a muscle up with little effort, and she can fire multiple shots from high powered weapons like a Magnum with one arm. Her agility and lower body strength is almost unrivaled as well, with her possessing the ability to do a standing front flip onto an enemy's shoulders before snapping their neck and diving away, or doing a backflip from a kneeling position when recovering from her Double Knee Drop.
Jill's hand-to-hand combat ability is impressive, with her body officially described as "small and muscular" "compact and strong", and her fighting said to be "highly honed". She compensates for her relatively slight stature in comparison to her male counterparts with her immense speed and flexibility when fighting, favoring the use of lightning-fast kicks and knife strikes over her fists. Her flexibility and small stature lend itself to her fighting, as she is able to hide and dodge in smaller spaces, she tends to use acrobatics attacks in her moves, with many of her melee attacks featuring flips and rolls.
Aside from combat and weaponry, Jill is a skilled piano player.
Numerous official documents, including her character file found in Resident Evil 5, highlight Jill's unrivaled ability to remain calm under extreme conditions, while the manual for the remake of the original Resident Evil says that her quick thinking has kept herself and her comrades alive on numerous occasions. Jill also has a strong capacity for anger. Her profile in Resident Evil 3 describes her as cheerful yet determined, with a strong sense of justice.
